Donna Sharp's Lighthouse Tour quilt showcases some of our nation's most recognizable lighthouses selected for their rich history and variety of shapes and patterns.
Featured are the Montauk Lighthouse, oldest lighthouse in New York circa 1796, the West Quoddy Lighthouse located in the easternmost point of the continental United States build 1807, the strikingly "barberpole" marked Cap Hatteras Lighthouse - tallest in the nation, the Cap Neddick or "Nubble" Lighthouse in Maine and the last remaining original "screw pile" lighthouse on Chesapeake Bay - the Thomas Point Shoal Lighthouse.
To complete the nautical theme, a Mariner's Compass is placed between the lighthouses and the quilted blocks simulate nautical flags with "flying geese" waves lapping gently around the border. Complementing shades of blue will blend well with any decor. Hand pieced and quilted, this beautiful ensemble will delight nautical and quilt enthusiasts alike.
